Day 10. Saturday. 11.9.10

They're never satisfied till they're in your pants

sunny

More road maintenance today and this time we focuss on a section of the road near the dung paper factory. We need to dig a trench down either side of the long road in order to make sure the main section of the road is smooth and that the water runs off the sides. Ben had an epic fall down the trench which was rather hilarious and in our breaks we had a go at "poo sports" which involved using our spades and hoes to attempt to hit the elephant poo without spraying it in eachothers faces. It went everywhere. Fail.

In the afternoon we went to visit the womens group. As we approached we could hear them singing again and we couldn't help but shudder at the thought of more shoulder shaking. Very painful times made even more painful by the fact that Stevie thought it would be hilarioius for the locals to wrap local kanga's (patterned material) around us. VERY HOT but on the other hand it was good exercise. After a bit of howling and shoulder shaking we hoed the field which was knackering but the local people helped so the time passed quicker. I didnt want to look too lazy so I resisted a break. Once the hoeing was complete we learnt how to build and organise a small plant nursery on wooden sticks. It was rather funny watching Bryony lusting after Chi as he built the nursery.

It was NOT so hilarious leaving the camp as back in the sheltered tree area where the song and dance took place I felt an itch in my kanga/trouser waist band and pulled my trousers away to discover the biggest shiny black bug inching its way out of my trousers. Needless to say I screamed my head off and exposed myself slightly as I pulled my trousers away from me and looked in horror at the bug. The locals were killing themselves laughing and the rest of the group were crying with laughter too much to help me so all in all not fun. At least I amused everyone and the impressions of me went on all the way back to the camp.

On the down side my camera decided to break which was pretty upsetting to say the least and I chose to be in a small huff about it. I needed an early night anyway so I decided to go to bed rather than be moody to everyone but just before I went Stevie told us we were his best team yet which made me smile lots. Stevie is a legend. :)
